"Travel is one of the best ways to accelerate the development our senses. Opening and allowing yourself to be immersed in another culture, is life-changing. Traveling pushes us out of our comfort zone ~ we may be faced with many fears; flying, safety, not understanding a language and getting lost. When we decide to leave the comfort of our familiar lives and routines we also choose to grow ~ growth can only happen through change."
A unique, intimate, boutique style retreat/adventure with exciting excursions and a healthy twist. Definitely not your run of the mill retreat or vacation.
10 fun-filled days and 9 sultry nights in the incredibly beautiful and historic Yucatan Peninsula and Mayan Riviera ~ visiting ancient ruins in 3 locations including one of the seven wonders of the world, cenotes, turtle sanctuary, snorkeling, swimming in turquoise waters, relaxing on white sandy beaches, fresh local whole foods & herbs (veg options), yoga, workshops, spa treatments, and of course shopping.
We will begin our journey in Playa del Carmen - a small beach town in the Yucatan Penninsula with fantastic beaches, shopping, restaurants. From there we will take excursions to swim in a cenote, visit the the historic ruins of Chichen Itza
(one of the 7 wonders of the world); and explore the ancient ruins on the beach in Tulum!
And finally, we will take the ferry across the Caribbean to the magical Isla Mujeres (Island of women) where we will be staying beach front on one of THE most beautiful beaches (white sand & turquoise waters) voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. The entire island is only 5 miles long - no cars only taxis, mopeds, bicycles and golf carts! There we will explore more ancient ruins, the markets and visit a tortillaria - if you've never tasted a real freshly made warm tortilla - well - "yum" is all I can say.
In Isla, we are also offering an opportunity to truly immerse yourself by giving back. We will be offering our time and donating supplies to a group of local children in need.
Giving and sharing - all part of conscious traveling.
Of course, this is optional but highly recommended.
During one of my visits, I spent time at an orphanage in San Miguel de Allende and also in Chacala helping create and organize a play for the village. I have to say these were some of the most memorable experiences in my travels.

Is it safe to travel in Mexico? I know some people are concerned with safety when considering travel in Mexico.
Mexico is a HUGE country, and just like anywhere else including the U.S., there are certain areas that are more dangerous than others (currently in Mexico these are mostly the border towns and the western part of the country - the opposite side of where we will be). Please be assured that we will not be near any of these locations. We are only traveling to very SAFE areas geared mainly for tourists. As with anywhere you travel, you just need to use common sense and take standard precautions, i.e. be aware of your surroundings, don't flash valuables around, and don't leave your wallet on the beach (seriously, people do that).
I have been making numerous trips to Mexico since 1992; including extensive traveling throughout Mexico and Central America for almost 1 year solo as a single woman and I never felt threatened. Last year in 2014, I traveled with my teenage son, a female friend and her teen son. We traveled to 3 different places by local bus and never felt afraid or uncomfortable. This is the same area that we will be going with our group. This area is very family oriented and SAFE.
Do I need to share a room if I'm traveling solo? For an additional fee, we offer a single supplement for those more comfortable having a private room. For shared rooms, we will match you up with someone of the same sex with 2 beds in the room.
What should I bring? When you reserve your space, we will send you a detailed information sheet of what to bring (and what not to bring) to ensure you are comfy and cozy for the trip.
