Established in 2003, Turquoise Barn is a Green Certified, eco-friendly Retreat, Education and Event Center located approximately 3 hours from NYC on an organic farm in the Western Catskills.  The former dairy farm is home to 3 historic buildings; including a converted 1800's Carriage House, former pig barn now Gallery (Turquoise Barn), and a 3 story historic heifer barn which is now the studio, workshop & residence of  Michael Milton and Michelle Premura; two artists formerly of East Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY.

Turquoise Barn Gallery is located in a converted historic barn.  Established in 2003, the gallery began as a showcase for both Michael & Michelle's sculptures, paintings, woodwork, & jewelry.  It eventually evolved into a small cafe/gallery, adding local products, vintage and collectible items and organic produce.  As the demand for retreats, weddings, & events increased, we decided to clear out the shop and make this beautiful space available to rent for retreats, gatherings, and weddings.  However, many of the artworks are still on the walls and local products are still available for viewing & purchase in the mini-shop currently located inside the Carraige House.

The Carriage House was built in 1864 and was the home of horses, hay and carriages.  Formerly operating as a Bed and Breakfast, the entire Carriage house is now available to rent for small or large group events including personal and corporate retreats, weddings, reunions, vacation rental, photo & Video/Movie shoots.

When we began restoring this amazing building in 2000, we tried to use as much of the original and recycled/reclaimed materials as possible.  All the slate in the bathrooms, kitchen, and near the woodstove came from an old local school house, the 2 sets of double doors, wainscoting, floor boards upstairs are original; the floors downstairs came from another barn on the property.  Doors, railings, furniture, and some fixtures are all reclaimed. To date, we are continually upgrading while working towards retaining the original character of the house.

Most of the furniture and artwork is also made from recycled/reclaimed materials.  All artwork and furniture is made by us (Michael & Michelle) and most is available for purchase.  So if you’re interested in something, just let us know.  We also have a gallery/shop next door (Turquoise Barn) with more furniture, art, jewelry, collectibles, and local raw honey and organic produce when in season.

Our home and our property are eco-friendly; we believe in chemical-free, environmentally conscious living and use only natural chemical-free cleaning products.  We are also a Green Certified B&B through Hospitality Green LLC Green Concierge Eco-Business Certification™ program.  Most of our linens are organic and we also line dry when possible, so you may encounter some wrinkles (yikes!)  Our gardens are also chemical & pesticide-free (organic).  There is natural spring water throughout the house, delicious to drink and refreshing to shower or swim in.
